Job Description

Telemedicine Program Coordinator ensures the delivery of dependable day-to-day telemedicine services in support of First Nations in the community and Sioux Lookout area, as well as connects specialized health service providers within the region. Services include coordination and technical support for confidential clinical telemedicine consultations with health care providers and support for videoconferences for education, training, administrative and business purposes within the organization and community.

As a telemedicine services liaison between SLFNHA, KO eHealth, Ontario Telemedicine Network, she/he coordinates all aspects of program delivery that promotes growth of telemedicine application in the Sioux Lookout First Nations Zone.

Diploma/Degree in Health Care, Social Services (community development) or Economic Development (Business) Degree or diploma or equivalent in work experience;
Minimum two years’ experience as a coordinator in Health services, community/business animation and/or program development experience;
Demonstrated ability to animate and co-manage community-based initiatives;
Strong oral and written communication skills (including report and proposal writing skills);
Effective time management, organizational and problem-solving skills;
Proficient in a variety of computer application; competence in a database program(s) a definite asset;
Experience with Telemedicine/Videoconferencing/Webcasting;
Experience with automated information management systems;
Knowledge of health and privacy legislation;
Knowledge of and commitment to the services provided by Keewaytinook Okimakanak and SLFNHA;
Knowledge of the people, culture and history of Nishnawbe-Aski Nation; knowledge of health-related priorities and economic climate of the First Nations;
Ability to communicate in one or more of the First Nations dialects of the Sioux Lookout Zone would be an asset.
Animate delivery of key SLFNHA health programs via KO eHealth (Nodin CFI, Developmental Services Program, and Primary Health Care Unit);
Facilitates capacity building within the organization and in the community for education, training, business and administrative purposes;
Acts as a liaison for Sioux Lookout Zone First Nations communities in delivery of tele-psychiatry through the Ontario Telemedicine Network (i.e. Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto);
Oversees overall Telemedicine Program development;
Provides KO eHealth Orientation (protocols, etiquette, and technical support) as required;
Coordinates scheduling of KO eHealth events as required;
Maintains ongoing communications between KO eHealth and First Nations communities of the Sioux Lookout Zone;
Participates in KO eHealth staff meetings, working groups and other committees as required;
Facilitates the development and implementation of the program objectives as specified in the Agreement, including delivery of quarterly reporting responsibilities;
Works collaboratively with all staff and partners to ensure a high quality telemedicine delivery; provides program evaluations and updates to SLFNHA Health Services Supervisor;
Facilitates ongoing technical support to ensure videoconferencing equipment is functioning at all times, keeps inventory and records of equipment maintenance status up to date;
Collaborates with SLFNHA Information Technology Department and seeks technical support from KO eHealth, K-net and OTN;
Other duties as assigned by the SLFNHA Health Services Supervisor.
