Nodin (CFI) Child and Family Intervention Services provides mental health counselling, support, and family intervention services to First Nation children, youth, and adults from communities served by SLFNHA. The majority of communities are remote, not road accessible and only reachable by air transportation. Nodin CFI has a number of services: counsellors travelling to First Nation communities to see clients, a crisis response program, community based counsellors, and a team of counsellors/specialists working in Sioux Lookout with clients.
The Outpatient Mental Health Clinical Manager will be the clinical lead and manage the team of counsellors/specialists/admin support working in Sioux Lookout with clients on an outpatient basis. This unit provides intensive brief counselling, crisis intervention, and safety planning to individuals who are demonstrating very “high risk” behaviours that cannot be responded to at the community level.

This position reports to and is supervised by Nodin’s Director of Treatment Services.

Master’s Degree in one of the core mental health disciplines (e.g. Social Work, Psychology) plus 5-7 years of direct clinical experience in mental health and addictions
Will consider an undergrad university degree in conjunction with a diploma program (both in the area of mental health) plus 5-7 years of direct clinical experience.
Experience as a clinical supervisor of psychotherapy and with psychological assessment
Clinical training and experience with trauma informed treatment models and interventions for children and families with complex trauma and attachment difficulties
Highly skilled at providing and/or supervising family therapy cases and engaging caregivers in treatment
Experience with program evaluation, program development, and developing job descriptions
Experience in proposal and report writing, governance, budgeting and resource management
Experience delivering a service against challenging performance objectives, meeting a range of key targets and making improvements
Experience working with a diverse range of stakeholders, internal and external to the organization to achieve successful outcomes through excellent relationship-building skills
Demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations; knowledgeable of First Nations’ people, history, culture, health priorities and social issues
Excellent interpersonal, leadership, verbal/written, organizational and computer communication skills
Strong public speaking skills; ability to design and deliver presentations externally and to staff using innovative and creative means
Ability to function effectively during change management, periods of rapid change and transition
Must be willing to travel and requiring valid Driver’s License
Must be willing to relocate and live in Sioux Lookout (or within a daily commuting distance)
Ability to communicate in one of the First Nations dialects of the Sioux Lookout region is an asset.
Act as the designated lead manager for the Outpatient Mental Health Service; to provide clinical and administrative oversight, supervision and direction
Examine the existing outpatient service criteria, make necessary changes, lead the assessment and redevelopment of this unit, and create a more comprehensive multi-disciplinary team based on new criteria
Make sure mental health standards of care are applied and mediate where needed to fix issues if standards are not being met
Implement process improvements as necessary to increase operating efficiency and improve client care
Review and monitor caseloads and ensure supervisees comply with all clinical, legal and ethical practices
Complete performance evaluations and aid supervisees in identifying professional development goals and training needs
Provide training in assessments, duty to report, serious occurrence reporting, trauma informed care, and any other topics to strengthen client care
Assist with the development of Nodin’s Standard Operating Procedures
Assist with the development of a standardized Clinical Supervision Model and Debriefing Model
Manage and monitor quality control
Hold regular individual clinical supervision meetings with team members and hold regular all team meetings
Develop and mentor a high performing multi-disciplinary team to work closely and respectfully together to best meet client needs
Provide strategic advice and utilize critical thinking/problem solving skills to quickly resolve service delivery problems
Liaise and build partnerships with First Nations communities, local hospital, federal and provincial programs, community agencies, and other organizations to improve service delivery
Complete work plans aligned with annual organizational objective setting, annual performance reviews, and reports as requested
Participate in staffing recruitment processes
Assist with the establishment of operational budgets as requested and monitor expenditures
To sit on any relevant working groups or advisory committees
Other duties as required
